Ferris Communications is a public relations and marketing consulting firm in Long Beach, Calif.  The company offers a full range of pr and marketing services including public relations planning and implementation, media relations, crisis communications, brand building, speech writing, project management, community relations, and special event planning and execution.

Holly Ferris, President of Ferris Communications

While taking an extracurricular career development class during her senior year of high school, Holly Ferris discovered the field of public relations.  The instructor told her she had all the qualities necessary…creativity, excellent writing ability, strong communication skills and tenacity.  Already enrolled as a business major at California State University, Long Beach for the following fall, Holly decided to take her instructor’s advice to research the field of public relations, and she liked what she found.  In April prior to high school gradation, she changed her major to journalism/public relations, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Many years after making that life-changing decision, Holly founded Ferris Communications.  Since opening the doors in November 2003, she remains committed to providing her company’s clients with creative and strategic programs and solutions that influence attitudes and change behaviors.

Holly brings 14 years of experience as a public relations professional to her position at Ferris Communications.   The company works with clients from a variety of industries including automotive, body/mind/spirit/holistic health, business management software, travel and leisure, hospitality and not-for-profit.

Prior to launching her business, Holly spent nearly 12 years at Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., the sales and marketing corporate headquarters for Toyota, Lexus and Scion in the United States.  While at TMS, Holly had the opportunity to launch some of the most successful vehicles on the market, introduce cutting-edge technologies, out-run potential corporate crises, and form relationships with key industry executives and media members.  Before leaving to start her company, Holly was the public relations manager for the Lexus Division of TMS.  In her role, she oversaw Lexus’ public relations strategic planning and activities including counseling executives, preparing press materials, writing speeches, organizing press events and serving as a spokesperson for the division.

Before Lexus, Holly was the manager of Toyota product news.  In this position, she was instrumental in the launch of the all-new Toyota 4Runner sport utility vehicle and the all-new Toyota Sienna minivan.  In addition, she worked on a number of high-profile projects including the announcement of Toyota’s entry into the fuel-cell vehicle arena and the launch of Toyota’s newest brand, Scion.

Additionally, Holly spent four years overseeing promotions and public relations for Toyota Motorsports.   Her responsibilities included coordination of the company’s participation in the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, including the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race, media relations for Toyota’s entry into open-wheel racing, and all projects relating to the company’s off-road racing program.

Holly holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism/public relations from California State University, Long Beach and a master’s in business administration (MBA) from the University of California, Irvine.  She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America (Orange County and Los Angeles Chapters) and the Motor Press Guild.
